Nutritious food is one of the keys for health and longevity. A balanced diet (we use the term diet interchangeably with food intake - not meaning a weight-loss program) includes wholesome foods in proper propotions and portions.
There's a lot of confusing information out there. A recent Harvard & Tufts Univ. study found that people who ate an Atkin's style diet (high protein/good fat/low carbohydrate) or a Mediterranean diet (rich in healthy fats, legumes, whole grains and fresh vegetables, but also contains chicken and fish as protein sources) were able to lose more weight than those who ate an American Heart Association recommended low-fat diet.

Forget extravagant exotic recipes from tv or recipe books that you'll never prepare. Quick, nutritious, and delicious meals do not have to be intimidating and expensive endeavors. A little knowledge on preparing the main fare i.e., core ingredients, mixed with a helping of improvisation using seasonings and complimentary side dishes is worth more than a closet full of exotic cookbooks with hundreds of elaborate recipes you're unlikely to ever prepare.
